The nation’s largest jazz competition of its type is in full swing on the College of Northern Colorado.
The 49th annual UNC/Greeley Jazz Pageant, which started Thursday and concludes Saturday, featured dozens of highschool bands in addition to top-performing artists for a weekend of music.
The campus bustled with budding musicians who dressed their greatest, their shiny brass devices in tow. Highschool bands carried out in entrance of judges who would give them suggestions and pointers.
“It offers college students the chance to expertise jazz on one other stage,” stated Kyle Dobbins, conductor for Denver South Excessive Faculty’s Insurgent Jazz Band. “They work with professionals and may be pushed in methods they’ve not but been pushed.”
