I M Pei, the architect behind buildings together with the glass pyramid exterior the Louvre in Paris, has died aged 102.

Tributes have been pouring in, remembering him for a lifetime of designing iconic buildings worldwide.

Pei’s designs are famend for his or her emphasis on precision geometry, plain surfaces and pure mild.

He carried on working properly into previous age, creating one among his most well-known masterpieces – the Museum of Islamic Artwork in Doha, Qatar – in his 80s.

A practical artist

Ieoh Ming Pei was born in Guangzhou, China in 1917, and moved to the US on the age of 18 to check at Pennsylvania, MIT and Harvard.

He labored as a analysis scientist for the US authorities throughout World Battle Two, and went on to work as an architect, founding his personal agency in 1955.
