Provincial award winners! ‘This Is How We Received Right here’ received massive on the Theatre Ontario Competition final week. GORE BAY – Gore Bay Theatre carried out its Northern Ontario successful manufacturing of ‘That is How We Received Right here’ on the Theatre Ontario Competition final week on the Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts. The competition featured the highest award-winning theatre teams from each area of the province. On the awards banquet, Gore Bay Theatre walked away with 4 prestigious awards, inserting second in most awards obtained on the competition.
Gore Bay Theatre is the smallest neighborhood to ever compete on the Theatre Ontario Competition and did Gore Bay, the Island and the area proud. It was the one group to win an ensemble appearing award for energy in storytelling with Tara Bernatchez, Shannon McMullan, John Robertson and Will Smith sharing the extremely revered appearing award.
As co-director Walter Maskel mentioned, “an ensemble appearing award refers back to the total impact of all of the actors working along with complete teamwork producing a balanced and unified efficiency in concord with all of the actors. It’s what administrators and solid members try for and it’s a nice honour to obtain the accolade.”
Will Smith received the Excellent Efficiency by a Male in a Supporting Position Award and Vern Dorge received an adjudicator’s award for unique music. Shannon McMullan was additionally nominated for the Excellent Efficiency by a Feminine in a Supporting Position Award.
The group additionally obtained an award for greatest visible presentation, introduced to co-directors Andrea Emmerton and Walter Maskel. The adjudicator mentioned that the set and lighting design have been “wonderful, lovely and instantly captured the essence of Northern Ontario.”
Ms. Emmerton added, “we have been competing in opposition to teams from main cities that had many extra assets than us, so receiving this award was extraordinarily gratifying.”

With sincerity, humour and, above all, with compassion, the manufacturing from Gore Bay Theatre has introduced that reality to vivid emphatic life.”
Keith Barker, the playwright of ‘That is How We Received Right here,’ was capable of see the efficiency and meet firm members after the efficiency. Mr. Maskel mentioned, “he was very complimentary concerning the manufacturing and mentioned he would attempt to see the manufacturing when it’s carried out in July as a part of Gore Bay Theatre’s summer time season.”
Ms. Emmerton mentioned, “everybody was amazed that such a small city with 12 (stage) lights may produce such award-winning visuals and award-winning ensemble appearing.”
Mr. Maskel added, “Gore Bay Theatre obtained six awards on the Northern Ontario Drama Competition and 4 awards on the Theatre Ontario Competition for a complete of 10 awards, tying a gaggle from Kingston for probably the most awards obtained by any neighborhood theatre group within the province this 12 months. We’re well-known within the province for the dedication we’ve for the artwork, the standard of theatre we produce and nobody continues to be asking us ‘the place is Gore Bay?’”
